Epilogue complete

The ending wasn't as OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD as the ending of the actual game... but I still liked it. It was the kind of ending the game deserved (that's not quite right but we'll leave it for now).

No Imogen as of yet, so she probably won't arrive today. So sad.

In other news, I had no idea there was a Koren live-action movie based on Antique Bakery. Downloading at the speed of 775 kbps light! :DDD Though it kind of irks me a little bit that they seem to have decided to make Ono look super gay... I guess I understand, but he has awful hair. I like him better with short hair! (I haven't seen the live-action Japanese TV series, either, but I'm less inclined towards that really).

I just finished a book today that had to do with planting things and bringing life back into a dead orchard and all my mental images of the process were entirely based on PoP's healing process.

girl in love
I ended up starting a new PoP game last night and I was going to do a little more on that before I did the Epilogue, but... well, FUCKING WARRIOR SQUARE SQUARE SQUARE SQUARE. So I started the Epilogue instead. It's supposed to be only three hours long, but... it's kind of intense so I think I'm actually going to finish it tomorrow (that said, I have no way of measuring how far in I even am?)

I don't really have much I have to do for school this weekend... but looking back at my planner I completely forgot to do an assignment last week. :/ This really pisses me off. Despite the fact that I keep doing things last minute, I have been keeping up really well in all my classes. The thing in question I meant to do on Wednesday, so if I haven't slacked off on doing my Info Hunt stuff the previous weekend it would've been fine (or at least I probably wouldn't have forgotten about it completely). I hope it's not going to hurt my grade too much.

Beyond that, school-wise, like I said I am pretty much on top of things. Next thing I have due is my book review for 5240, next Friday, and then I'll probably be doing my midterm for 5600 that day as well so I need to review. I plan to write the book review on Sunday, so if any of you guys see me on AIM please ask me WTF I am doing. The only hard part of the review is... what do I write it about?! I have no idea. Because I can write it about any children's/YA book. How on earth do I choose just one? Right now I'm pretty much fluctuating between Robin McKinley's Chalice and Nisiosin's The Kubikiri Cycle. I considered doing Havemercy because it and The Kubikiri Cycle are probably the most excellent books I read last year, but I don't really think Havemercy is YA personally (plus there is no way I could avoid making some gay dragon comment... just no way). If only those Night Watch books were YA.

I was going to get started on my second Info Hunt/Evaluations this weekend too but they're not due until April 1 so pff. Though I should work on our group project for that class, and I also need to look into what I have to do for the storytime. I can't remember if I mentioned it, but Patti offered to let me come along on an outreach trip with her to do the storytime, which is a lot less stressful for me than trying to do it at work (and saves me from ever having to ask Bonnie). People keep telling me it's stupid, but I am so terrified of doing storytimes. I'm actually afraid of them to the point where I don't know if I even want to do the YA program anymore just because I don't want to take Storytelling, but really I only have to do one actual live storytime for that class as well so I can probably get through it. Maybe.

That reminds me, the other thing I need to do tomorrow is figure out what classes I want to take in the Fall... Registration begins March 30th. I've already gotten my summer classes approved, though I need to look into how the heck I'm supposed to pay for them. e_e Ugh. School is so complicated.

So tomorrow I need to:
-Go to Freeman to return my books/pick up the one I had on hold that came in/find Heather Has Two Mommies
-Go to Joann's
-Go to Chase to open a savings account with the money leftover from my loan for this semester
-Go to the YMCA with Dad
-Look at fall classes
-Look at book review assignment instructions again and try harder to choose a book

I am hoping that Imogen arrives tomorrow also. The tracking never updated this evening, though, so as far as I know she's stuck in customs. D:

I was going to stay up all night playing PoP but since I've already stopped for the evening I think I'm just going to go to bed and get up earlier than I'd planned tomorrow.

Ah, thinking about Imogen reminds me. If I didn't already hate mice with a burning passion, I hate them even more now. I went to go look for something in my box of doll accessories last night and found a nice little mouse nest in there. The mouse is long-gone (I'm pretty sure it was the same one as was in my bedroom when we got back from Philadelphia last summer), but... my dolls and by extension my doll stuff is really important to me, and the idea that some mouse was crapping all over it really pisses me off. Ugh. The box is a nice plastic box but there's a hole in the side of it from me dropping it at some point (before it was a box for doll stuff). The stupid mouse even chewed up some of the doll food that was in there, WTF. I hope it choked. Ugh. I hate mice so much. I'm probably going to end up replacing the box completely because I don't want even the slightest chance of it happening again, and I need to go through the rest of the stuff that was in that cabinet to make sure nothing else has been crapped all over or chewed on.

A couple of things

  • 28th Feb, 2009 at 5:10 PM
are you an idiot?
I got Prince of Persia yesterday because I figured I needed some sort of reward for not doing my homework being awesome. Game is crazy addictive. I have to keep my door closed, though, while playing it because I end up constantly yelling "I SAID WALLRUN NOT JUMP TO YOUR DEATH YOU DUMB SHIT" at the Prince all the damn time. It's a good thing you can't actually die.

My only problem with the game is that the Prince never shuts up. The conversations between him and Elika do amuse me but only until all they're saying to each other is "LET'S GO LET'S GO" and I'm like "I WOULD BE GOING IF YOU DIDN'T KEEP TELLING ME TO HIT R2!" Pff.

But it is engrossing to the point that I was staring at the screen so intently that my contacts dried out and when I blinked one fell out. True story. Of course I was precariously hanging off a wall at the time so I had to half-blindedly carry on until I found some place to stand. Really I guess I could've left him hanging off a wall but that felt mean.

Also, [info]bakemonokun - After playing Prince of Persia until three o'clock last night I was expecting to dream about climbing walls and jumping on things, but instead I had a dream where I was a vampire being falsely accused of killing four people. Possibly related: I finished the first part of Last Watch.

$
Today was the big day... while technically I won't get my money until tomorrow as I have direct deposit and tomorrow is actually payday, they always hand out checks/pay stubs on the day before payday. So I was eagerly awaiting mine to see how much it was going to be!

And... they paid me at my old pay rate. When I was a page I was making $8 an hour, now I'm making $12.40, but they paid me $8 an hour. Ugh. And of course it's too late to do anything about it now, so I won't get the rest of my money until next paycheck. Oh well... It doesn't really change any of my plans, anyway. But it is really annoying.

In other news, I finished the Death Note novel. LOL plot twist at the end there. I can't really say much about it without spoiling it, though. But I did crack up at the very end, over the sexual harassment thing. Oh, Misora. Too bad you die later. We've actually got the entire series of Death Note at work now (well... it's sitting in tech because no one wants to deal with the graphic novels, or rather I wouldn't mind dealing with them but Bruce doesn't want to deal with them so he won't show me how... once I know how to catalogue the things, they'll get catalogued a lot faster, I promise). I think I'm probably going to re-read it. I hardly even remember the beginning anymore.

Somewhat related, but is anyone else besides Ali reading Ohba and Obata's new series, Bakuman? It's about a pair of guys who are trying to create a hit manga. Of course they're trying to get their manga in Shonen Jump (because of course it's a SJ manga)... It's pretty awesome, though. Hilarious, and fun to read... also very interesting from a learning how manga gets made standpoint, I guess. The actual premise is way more ridiculous than I just said. XD Anyway, it's on OneManga, so whether you liked Death Note or not you should check it out. I think.

Only Ali will care, but I keep playing .hack while I eat dinner... except I don't feel like actually going off and doing the next story thing (because the trend is to make me go to dungeons and those take too long). So I've just been running around working on getting everyone's affection to max, which means I'm just dragging random people out to areas. Mostly areas way too high level. As a result, I (I being Haseo and Atoli, really, who are almost level 140 while mostly everyone else is still below 130) am probably like fifteen levels higher than the game expects me to be right now... whoops.

And only Zoë will care, but... just how is Anton supposed to live there with no toilets? Is there a toilet in the apartment with no door that he can use? XD

Now I am going to bed super early.

Okay so I totally ruined my Kinon wig. Whoopee. Really it looks okay from the front, but very not okay from, um, any other angle. Though I haven't cut the bangs yet so this could change! It could be all around awful! Lacking the necessary funds/time to get a new wig before Onicon it's just going to have to do, though. I'll probably replace it after the con and save the one I mangled for Xianghua or something.

I know I posted a cosplay for next year list a while ago but of course it's changed since then.

Current plans:
Xianghua from Soulcalibur IV (if I ever get into shape, so who knows)
Shino from .hack//G.U. (or Roots but let's pretend like Roots doesn't exist here)
Midori from .hack//CELL (aka I love cosplaying people no one will recognize... actually as Midori people will assume I am a really badly done Amano Yuna... but I like her outfit! Okay!) (actually really Midori's also in Roots but let's again pretend it doesn't exist, plus her outfit in Roots is really ugly).

After screwing up the wig I of course don't feel like doing anything else. My copy of Riven finally came, but it seems disinclined to let me save my game. So I can either just leave my Playstation on all the time and play nothing but Riven until I finish it, or I could, um, not play Riven. Will probably do the former but if the power goes out I'll cry. I wanted to try to beat it without using any guides but if I can't save I may put a time limit on how long I'll spend failing to solve a puzzle before I give in and look it up...

I must really like being late to work, huh. I wonder where I'll have to park.

When .hack first started, with SIGN back when I was in high school... I watched SIGN but had no interest in doing anything else with the series. When Udeden started I watched some of it, and quickly got tired of it (though I ended up reading the manga, because it was cute). When Roots started I didn't even give a crap. When the G.U. games came out I didn't even know about it until Ali started ranting about them nonstop. She finally pulled me in when they made Trilogy, as I was like "Ah, I can find out what the hell she's going on about without having to play the games!"

Apparently not. Now I'm on the third game, and am pretty seriously obsessed. I've been reading the novels, the manga, and while I have really no intention of watching Udeden one of these days I will actually finish Roots. I want to play the original four games after I finish G.U.

G.U. is a really great game. It's kind of sad how much time I spend floating around the .hack wiki looking up stuff. I seriously want to read the Epitaph of Twilight, the epic poem that The World is based off of... if only it really existed. XD I'm so obsessed that I just the other day ordered several of the as-yet unlicensed novels because I want to read them (even though I fail at Japanese).

I think what's really pulled me in is the mythology (besides G.U. just being a damn lot of fun... I love all the characters and I love the gameplay... I wish The World R2 was an actual online game I could actually play because I would never do anything else ever again XDDD). I like going to the Lost Grounds and just kind of staring at them, pondering The World's backstory and wishing I could read more of it.

I am such a sucker for a well-built world. Really, that's what always gets me when I read, when I watch movies, when I watch anime or anything. My favorites all have this common trait, and that is why they are my favorites. I mean, great characters are one thing, and of course are important (a well-built world is nothing if you can't populate it with interesting people), but it's the worlds that suck me in more than anything.

Which I also think is kind of why I suck at writing so much? Or rather why I suck at finishing anything. I develop the world and then I lose interest, because my work is done here or whatever. XDD Though really it's more my habit of playing things out in my head, and then having trouble actually conveying what I want to happen in words...

Okay, now I have like ten minutes to put my contacts in, shower, get dressed, and grab something to eat. :D; After work today I'm off to Target to see if I can't find this turtleneck there, and also some black leggings. When I get home, I shall finally put the waistband on Dad's kilt and then I will play .hack for the rest of the night.

THIS GAME IS ON CRACK. YES I DOWNLOADED IT. I am sure the novelty will wear off in no time flat but it's already given me at least $4.99 worth of amusement, so there!

EDIT: The other trailer is even better.

I have gotten really bad about posting.

Since I hardly ever post anymore, it seems, here's a general update on what's what.

-I'm going to Philadelphia Saturday with Mom, Dad, and Phil. We'll be there until Monday the 16th. I haven't been up there in years so I'm really looking forward to the trip... even if it looks like it's going to be hot and my Aunt Fran doesn't have AC (horrors).
Since we're staying with my aunt and I'm obviously bringing Sir, I should be around online anyway. Hopefully I'll be making daily posts with whatever I did that day, but I might get lazy.

-Ali gave me vol 1 of .hack//G.U. to play after I agreed to watch Trilogy at A-kon. I... I wasn't expecting to like it this much! It's going to be hard going away from it for a week (I can't just bring my PS2 because my Aunt Fran doesn't really have a TV... isn't that wacky?).

-In as such, Gwen progress has gone down the crapper. I've been playing as much GU as I can while I can instead of working on it. I just stopped for the night and am going to go try Bun Attempt #4 (this time with hair glue... wish me luck!), though. I sanded down my crescent thing on my Psypher, too, but I need to patch some spots now. Dremel-sanding paperclay is actually all kinds of wacky fun. XD Except that I got kind of too enthusiastic about it. :D;

-Uh, I forget what else I was going to say. XD

I'm going to try to make a photo post tomorrow with some of the cute things I bought at A-kon (since Debbie wanted to see) and the progress so far on Gwen... but I fail so we'll see what happens. Also need to make a post of my changed cosplay plans but I figure I'll have plenty of time to do that while in Philly.

Off to ruin more hair!

No luck in this department

My camera did in fact come back today. They replaced the "main pcb" whatever that is. It did nothing. The camera is doing the exact same thing. I'd almost be tempted to just live with not being able to use super macro mode but then I cannot take any closeups of anything (ie cannot take decent photos of Pinkys or dolls, the two main things I want to be able to take decent photos of). Regular macro mode just doesn't cut it. Especially for Pinkys.

Soooo I guess I'll be sending it back again. ASAP so I can have it back by graduation, though I probably won't be taking many pictures then myself.

In other news, I got my first S++ in Kira Kira Music Night. On Tamae's second song. XD Now I don't have an excuse to play it over and over again, though. Wait, do I need an excuse?

キラキラ☆Music Night

  • 10th Apr, 2008 at 10:32 AM
dance
My copy of Kira Kira Music Night arrived yesterday. ♥ I've not quite beat it yet... Though I'm not sure what else I'm doing? I beat each area and I beat Angie... But I guess there must be more areas this time as the wiki lists Jazz, Country, and Opera. I had to go to class so I didn't get to mess with it after beating Angie (does this mean I have to play her again? Damn).

Other points of interest:
-Maki's clone army still creeps me out.
-Moe is still mean (but with a smile!)
-Tamae was strange in the first game but now she is completely insane. WTF.
-Why was Sacchin wearing a swimsuit for the first dance at Twin Death Co.?

Also the wiki doesn't have everything filled in yet, so sad. XD I think most of the checklists are done, but there's this big red note I don't feel like deciphering on the "one piece" page so I'm guessing that's not finished? And they have most of the numbers for the songs on Normal mode but not all of them.

I also laughed that one of the titles you can get in Electron is "Anime Queen." Right now I am キラキラ☆ムスメ, though.

Also my camera should be home Friday. We'll see how many times they deliver it. ¬_¬ After I get it back I will take photos of my new girls if it kills me.

(EDIT: I beat the game... Oohara's freaky love for Tamae scares me. Actually Oohara's pretty scary herself.)

Today I accomplished nothing. I started on the second wing, but I didn't even glue a single feather before I decided I really didn't feel like doing that today. I did get the tutu trimmed, though...

Retarded photos behind cut. )

I also finished Oswald's book. Yaaay! :D And started Velvet's. Velvet is special. Her poses and motions and insane jiggling... What the hell. Ali came over to watch the beginning while I played, so she got to see me fail at hitting anything with her attacks. e_e Of course the first area is the Netherworld and so I have to fight Odette and her melons... she killed me once (basically in one hit) and I decided I'd level up before trying that again).

And because I hate the class, I didn't work on my commentary for British Lit at all... Why is it due this weekend? This professor is a bastard. As usual I haven't a clue what to write about and as usual I'll be doing it all tomorrow. I also never posted on the message board for like the fourth week... My grade in this class is going to be pretty awful. e_e; Low B if I'm lucky. (EDIT: I went and posted right after this.)

I'm going to bed now.

PS GUYS go comment on my wing post from yesterday. The fact that no one but Ali said anything on that post makes me think everyone hates them... come on! Even if you don't care about this cosplay shit at all! Just tell me how they looook I'm insecure!!! (note: D and Zoë are exempted from this)

Feeling moderately better, but I'm still looking forward to drugging myself out and going to bed. Speaking of which, I should have taken another decongestant hours ago.

Here we go into the other reason I kind of didn't want to see The Golden Compass with friends after all... after the "Yay a movie of a book I like!" joy wore off, I realized that I would probably hate it.

Surprisingly, I didn't hate it. It was actually a pretty good movie. But more as a movie that is a movie and not as a movie that is based off of a book. I think we can say "loosely adapted from" more than "based off of." "Inspired by"?

They switched around some stuff to make the story flow better for a movie where they could not give all the background that goes into the book. I had no problem with that, really. I expected that.

But my favorite thing was how they ended it. Such a hopeful ending. Such an "I see what you did there" moment for me. XD I guess if they don't go through with the other two books, Roger and Lyra will live a long happy life with Asriel and Mr. Scoresby and Iorek Byrnison.

I won't go into it more because I think only one person on my f-list has actually read the book and probably no one else cares. I recommend seeing it to any of you who haven't read the book, but I don't recommend talking to me about it. XD

After the movie, I had dinner and got beat up by the same goddamn dragon that keeps beating me up every story I play in Odin Sphere. e_e Then Ali came over and we spent nearly three hours playing Katamari Damacy. I am happy I finally got to play it on two-player mode, but it's a little embarrassing that Ali kept beating me, considering tonight was her first time playing it and I've had it for several weeks now. e_e

And then I went on a hunt for the CLAMP in WONDERLAND DX chapters, having just learnt of their existence (I am slow). I managed to find them but they are scanlated into Spanish. Haha! Oh well. Kamui is cute in the one from the Platinum issue... and I love the two majong ones. Especially the one with Sakura winning big (not that I know anything about mahjong). Though actually my favorite part of that one is when the white Mokona and the black Mokona are hugging and going "Kya--!"

Okay, so I finished the game. I didn't do half the extra shit there was to do, but since you can't save once you get on Bahamut (remember that, kids), I can just go back and do whatever whenever I'm feeling up to it.

It took me, I think... half an hour. Maybe a little longer. I didn't actually time myself or anything. I used a grand total of one Phoenix Down in the entire Vayne fight (from Vayne Solidor to The Undying). Because I am awesome. Also level 80.

Definite spoilers. I think. If you can figure out what I'm talking about. )

Today the weather sucked. It was muggy and gross. Come on, weather! I know it's not October anymore, but you can be nice for a little longer!

I'm... extremely bored. I was so preoccupied with the thought that I had ten thousand things to do this week to realize that I actually don't have that much, it's just a lot of little things. :/

Today I did get my degree plan filed, and I went by San Jac and had them send my transcript to UH. Though I also found out that somehow-or-other I am not actually declared as a Classics minor. So I am currently an English major with an English minor? The English advisor gave me the Language department (which Classics falls under for some reason) advisor's email and phone number, but I'll probably just go by AH in person tomorrow since I'll be at PGH in the morning anyway.

On that note, I must remember that I have to leave for school by 9:15 tomorrow... no farting around online for two hours before I leave!

I also went to the library to try to get some books to do my Grammar project but all of the usage dictionaries are checked out. Big surprise there. Luckily we have some books on usage at work, so I'll just pick a few up tomorrow and do the project after I get home. It should take all of a half hour to do.

Speaking of Grammar, I feel somewhat accomplished that I actually managed to make a message board posting this week (actually two). I think I came off as an extreme snot in them both, but I am okay with that. One of the questions the professor posted was: "How much should a teacher count off for errors of mechanics on a paper? On an essay exam? Why?" Two people gave it one line answers. I gave it two paragraphs. Hahaha, I talk too much.

My Syntax test was probably a bomb... The trees, okay. The third question seemed really difficult but when I actually seriously looked at it I realized it wasn't at all (plus the answer was basically right in the book, and of course it was open book since it was a take-home test). I think my answer to the first question, though, may just kill my professor. She'll laugh so hard she'll just die. Oh well...

I also forgot to ask Dr. Lindhal (is he really a doctor or do I just think he is?) about my transcriptions, so I should probably email him... I hate emailing professors. I hate emailing anyone, really. Also calling people. But I am okay with asking people things in person, for some reason. When I remember to.

Despite accomplishing all that while I was at school, I have done basically nothing since I got home. I failed to go and get passport photos taken, so that's going to have to wait until next week. I got annoyed because people really like to talk over me (I know nothing I say is important, but it's only polite to at least let me finish saying it). I played quite a bit of FF:T (I have a crush on Ovelia, developed quite suddenly when Ramza was showing her how to use a blade of grass to whistle). I read some epic Harry Potter fanfiction (?). Now I am typing this.

What I have not yet done is eaten dinner. I kind of want spaghetti, since Tuesday is traditionally spaghetti night but we had it yesterday instead. However, it's almost 9:30, and that is too late for spaghetti. So I will probably go have a nice dinner of popcorn and maybe cheese puffs as a side. I guess I'll play some video game or other while I do that. I've been playing KHII again because the final boss fight in Cornelius's story is irritating beyond words and I haven't yet decided if I want to get Revenant Wings next week or wait (but Al Cid is in it) (note to self: go by GameStop this weekend and reserve it) so I haven't been playing FFXII yet.

Okay, I just made the quick decision to play FFXII right now. I will go off and face whatever I was supposed to be doing... I'll just save it in a different slot so I can always go back and do more hunts and collect more espers if I feel like it later.

PS- To ALL YOU BASTARDS who keep going on and on and on and on about the Avatar finale: you win. I'll watch it tomorrow.
fish
I have not felt like eating anything at all for the past two days. As it is, I'm forcing myself to consume things... But this pretzel I am currently attempting to eat is really tough. I think it has been in the freezer too long. But, like yesterday I had a bowl of cereal for breakfast, a container of goldfish crackers for lunch, and eight chocolate chip cookies and a bag of potato chips for dinner. I don't know if it's at all connected to my horrible stomach virus from last weekend, but just the idea of eating is grossing me out. Foods I normally like are making me queasy just thinking about them... :/

And I am giving up on this pretzel.

In other news, Twilight by Stephenie Meyer finally came in at work. As soon as I started reading something else. I'll probably finish the other book first (which is The Falconer's Knot, by Mary Hoffman) so I can show Twilight who is boss. >:(

I've got a lot of stuff I want to accomplish this weekend... especially since I was incapacitated for most of last weekend. I am contemplating locking up FFT in my locker at work overnight so I do not get distracted by it.. I'd like to clean up my room tonight. Tomorrow I have to go to work for an hour, and after that I've agreed to assist with morning furniture around upstairs. Then I am going to finally paint the woodwork in the bathroom. I've only been putting that off forever.

I gotta go to work now. Expect a longish post about JET later tonight!

So, like, Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions comes out tomorrow.

Sarah, aka my favorite person in the entire world is lending me her PSP. ♥♥♥♥♥♥

I think in honor of this I'm going to end up playing FFXII all night. I gotta finish the game before November 20th, right? 'cause that's when Revenant Wings comes out.

I know... it's pretty sad I haven't finished it by now in the first place. ¬_¬;; *fails* I might just give up on finishing all the hunts and go kick the boss's ass. I can always replay it to get everything else later. Or when I finally cave and get the International Zodiac Job System version. HAHAHAHA. 'cause the regular version doesn't have a New Game+, does it? :/

...and now I just went and ordered myself a copy of FFT: Advance. Whoops.

It's kind of sad that Gumshoe is insulting Phoenix's manliness.

I finished Phoenix Wright! Except not really, since I still have to play the extra episode.

Best quote from the game-
Edgeworth: Whoooooooooooooop!
Detective Gumshooooooooooe!

I also finished Sorcerer's Stone today! So next is Chamber of Secrets! Yaaaay. After rereading the first one I almost found myself feeling sad that Dumbledore was dead, but then I remembered how pointless it was and stopped (note: I do like Dumbledore, I just... THEY STILL HAVE HIS FREAKING PORTRAIT THEY CAN TALK TO HIM WHENEVER THE HELL THEY WANT COME ON).

I also finished If Minds Had Toes the other day... very good book. My next bathroom read is probably going to be Piratica II by Tanith Lee, but I also have a book about manners that is a better choice for a bathroom read due to it being something that is very easy to put down. XD I need to learn to stop reading really good books in the bathroom...

I need to update my reading log but it's on Karai and Karai's keyboard is currently on the floor in the corner and the spot on the desk where it typically goes is currently covered in other stuff. e_e;

Today at work I shelved everything there was to shelve (including the DVDs) in less than an hour. Can we say sloooooow day? However, as I was talking with Judy as she was doing her holds, she mentioned that she couldn't find a book in large type and I told her it was always getting mixed up since it got separated out by genre (it used to be all together, whether it was fiction, mystery, SF, or western, but now it's not). So she tried looking in the wrong place and found both the things she was looking for... So, I asked Gayle if she wanted me to do a run-through of the large type and see how many misplaced things I could find.

And damn were things misplaced. Cue long rant about shelving that will probably bore all of you spectacularly.

It wasn't just LT-Fs in the LT-Ms or whatever. There were regular books in the large type! WHY? I even found a book that had never ever been checked out before because it was in the totally wrong section... I was checking status on everything I found that was wrong, and Gayle had me also check the last use so we could see just how long the stuff had probably been misshelved. There was a book whose last user was ON-ORDER. The poor book! We got it in August last year! I felt really bad for it and put it on display (after changing its status from new... sure it had never actually been on the new shelf, but it wasn't really new anymore). e_e; I found two missing books, too, which makes everything worthwhile. Though one of them I didn't actually realize was missing at first, which makes me hope that I didn't miss any others.

I strongly suspect that the culprits behind things being messed up in the first place are our volunteers, but I do think that there's no reason Sarah shouldn't have noticed any of the mixed up books. I know it's hard to stay on top of things, but there were far too many of them there, and some of them have been there for months according to when they were last used. I won't say my sections are absolutely perfect at all times, but I think I can safely say none of them are that bad (the CDs nonwithstanding, though honestly my half of them isn't nearly as messy as Sarah's half... and I made sure to give her the stuff that doesn't get checked out as much in the hopes that she'd be able to keep up with it).

It drives me nuts that no one's willing to shelf-read. ¬_¬ I know it's god-awful boring, but YOU HAVE TO DO IT. I hardly ever JUST shelf-read, I instead shelf-read any shelf I put a book on when you I a book on it. It's real quick, just glance along the spine labels and along the titles. If you have multiple authors with the same last name on that shelf, just pull one or two out and make sure they haven't gotten mixed up. It doesn't take very long. You'll get to just about all the shelves sooner or later by doing this... shelves you don't put things on very often probably don't need to be read very often since nothing's coming off of them, either.

This makes me afraid for my poor books when I leave. I wish, like, I could interview and hire and train someone to replace me before I go. XDDD; What if they inadvertently hire another Helen or Tanya? THE PERFECTION I WORKED SO HARD TO ACHIEVE WILL BE DESTROYED!!!

In other words, if I ever come back to visit, I will not look at my shelves. I will not I will not I will not. Lest I end up there all day, fixing them all.
