I GET TO SLEEP IN MY OWN BED TONIGHT!
Watch me now not be able to sleep because of the sudden change in altitude. e_e
Unrelated but I went out today and bought... more books. Count of manga I own is now up to, uh, 534. I think I'm just trying to impress everyone. Are you impressed? Are you?

I probably should have gone back to work since I got out of the doctor's at 4:30 but I am a hobo and I didn't. :D Since Shelley told me I didn't have to write an exception for lunch I only have an hour and forty-five minutes to make up, and with the storytime Friday it should be no problem. I'll just hang around a bit at work afterwards.
But that's not important.
What's important is that my foot is in fact healing (what a shock). I am not 100% off crutches yet, but the doctor said I can start only using one in the next few days and within a week I can stop using them altogether. I obviously shouldn't be dancing or anything but YAY! Gradual weight bearing!
The thing is I'm almost afraid to actually walk on it. XD Having been careful of it all this time and now learning that my efforts have been rewarded, I cannot help but fear that by walking on it I will ruin everything somehow.
On the topic of TLA... I got to ride around on a stupid scooter. Photo of me on said scooter will be forthcoming as I left the camera in my car (along with two bags full of ARCs and free books). When Dad gets home I'll ask him to bring the stuff in for me (I got him a present so he can't possibly refuse, right?).
The best part of the conference, though, is that the people at the Little, Brown Books for Young Readers booth gave me ARCs of the first two Haruhi novels! I'll definitely be buying them anyway, as I want the hardback versions, but the ARC will tide me over until I can get to the bookstore. And the ARC of the second one will tide me over until the second one comes out (I'm not even sure when that is? XD). I don't know if the hardback version has a different cover but I kind of really like the ARC cover... very simplistic and appealing without screaming "I AM AN ANIME BOOK!" like so many light novel translations do (I could rant about this all day, but I won't).
So thanks, Little, Brown booth staff! You guys are awesome. Slightly more awesome than the Gaylord guy who bestowed a hedgehog puppet upon Ali for no reason (though you should never scoff at a gift from the Gaylord). People at library conventions are very nice. This is your lesson for today: if you want to talk to really nice people go to library conventions. Also if you want piles of free books. Though I am really sad that they were out of the audiobook of Wintergirls at, um, whatever booth that was (I guess I only remember booths that give me stuff). Also I am sad I could not get that interesting book about Neil Gaiman's works at whatever booth that was (I even tried to trade Ali for it).
Okay now I am going to finish my info hunts and evaluations I SWEAR and then read Haruhi (I started it in the doctor's office and they've stayed very true to Kyon's voice so far!).

You know, right after I broke my foot my crutches made me sore and hopping made me sore and I didn't want to go anywhere or do anything.
After a bit I got pretty used to it and wasn't sore anymore.
But today I am extremely sore. I dunno if it's because I still haven't quite recovered from Saturday's foray up to UH or what, but... my leg is sore, my arms are sore, my hands are sore, my back is sore, my shoulders are sore.
And worst of all I can't stop fiddling with the broken foot. I'm probably making it worse with all my fidgeting.
Also I have so much homework and I haven't been getting enough sleep.
I'm really tired of this broken foot. I just want to walk again, and climb up into my own bed, and sleep for a week... Tonight I'm going to bed early even if it means actually doing schoolwork before ten o'clock.

My right calf is now an inch larger than my left one. I measured, but it's real obvious just looking at them.
I am crossposting from Twitter because it's so depressing. What am I going to have to do, hop around on the left for three weeks after the foot's healed so they're even again? It's way worse than, say, Ali's uneven arms...
Also I never finished the shit I was supposed to do Saturday and haven't done a single productive thing yet today (instead I slept until noon, mucked around with mp3s for a straight hour, read a sub-par manga and some of The Hero and the Crown, and showered).
What a failure. I think I'm going to rearrange my to-do list slightly...

I finally got my stupid handicapped placard shit all ready to go. Though since Mom's in her Friendswood exile tomorrow I can't have her get the thing for me so I'll have to go get it myself or wait until Monday. Rrgh.
The people at the doctor's office didn't do anything to help my opinion of them, either. When I picked up the form, as I said yesterday, they had failed to notarize it or give me a prescription, and I definitely needed one of the two. Apparently this was the nurse's fault, because she failed to let anyone know it needed notarizing and stuck it in an envelope that no one was likely to look inside to check on that (indeed, I didn't look in it until I'd already left the office, blissfully assuming it to be correct). So I called back asking about getting a prescription in place of the notarization, as I already said. And I thought I'd convinced the lady I really did need it... but apparently she didn't actually do a damn thing about it. I called today around 4:00 and the person I talked to could find no note in my file or anywhere else regarding the prescription. So I ended up having to leave work to go home and get the form and then take it over there to get it notarized so I can get my placard in the morning. Urgh. At least it's all correct now. I hope. I should've had Mom look at it before I end up going to the courthouse annex and find out it's actually wrong.
Sarah was going to come over tomorrow but now she's not coming until Sunday (thrills... e_e) so tomorrow I will likely spend standing in lines, playing with the Juri head, and failing to get caught up on schoolwork. Though I also need to go to the bank to make my car payment. I bet I forget that, though...

Friday night Dad and Phil (and Mom) dragged the bed from the guest room downstairs so I can sleep on it. I'm very happy... since I can't climb the stairs very easily and I certainly can't climb into my bed. XD I didn't want to spend the next six weeks on a cot or the couch. Though it's a good thing my room is enormous. e_e
The positioning of the bed is also nice because I can watch TV/play games while in bed. XDD I haven't been able to do that in years!
More details on my current situation: I've got a very small hairline fracture in the fifth metatarsal of my left foot. It's so tiny that the doctor didn't even notice it the first time she looked at the x-ray. e_e It doesn't hurt at all unless I wiggle my foot around or put weight on it.
Right now what hurts is the rest of me. XD My arms and my right leg and foot are so sore from the damn crutches. Argh.
I should be able to start putting weight on it in three weeks, from what the doctor said. I go back on April 1st to find out how it's going. She said it'll probably take six weeks to heal completely, though. These will likely be the longest six weeks of my life.
Of course nearly everything I meant to do this weekend requires me to be not a gimp, so I'm really annoyed... but who wouldn't be annoyed after breaking their foot, really.
Also TLA is in less than three weeks. T_T In fact Ali and I were meant to go the same day as my doctor's appointment! I am going to see what I can find out about wheelchair availability at the conference center because I do not want to miss it. :/
