After today I'm putting Chrome aside for now. I might shorten the top tomorrow but we'll see. I know I've gotta go by the UPS store to send out my camera, and I am going to Home Depot for staff/psypher-making supplies if it kills me. After that it's back to tutu-construction. Hopefully it won't take too long now that I know more or less what I'm doing... Keep your fingers crossed for me, guys.


In other news I finally called Olympus again and am going to be sending my camera out tomorrow. I hope to god it gets fixed and back by A-kon. Also I need to buy a new memory card for my Nikon... the one I have can only hold about twenty pictures before it informs me the card cannot be read. Xb Not sure what happened there.

Other cosplay-related miscellany:
-My petticoat for Yin arrived. It is SUPER LONG because I am SUPER SHORT and it is an adult one-size-fits-all. So either I can hike it up to my ribcage or I can shorten it.

-I finally found something decent to make Yin's jacket out of, but I don't know if I got enough to also do the trim on her dress. At least the jacket is tiny and shouldn't take up that much cloth... but on the other hand, I need to line it. So I'll probably have to go back and get some more. It was unexpectedly on sale so I hope it still is on sale tomorrow... otherwise it's $6.99 a yard. Xb I almost bought all that was left on the bolt and now I wish I had.

I think that's it. D's got my too-big not-correct-power purple contacts so when I can get them from her I'll show those off. Some kind soul on cgl gave me a scan of Yin's character sheet so I finally know that how I'm doing her dress is inaccurate and I don't care.

So after two and a half semi-productive days I am probably 70% finished my Chrome top. Haven't even started on the skirt yet other than to figure out how long the waistband needs to be and how many pleats and how wide.

The top ended up being a small nightmare, and only worked out at all because lichan is the greatest person in the entire universe. Not only did she alter the pattern for me in the first place, but she put up with me constantly calling her and whining about things going wrong and ended up drafting me a sleeve from scratch because she is just that awesome.

Soooo tired. I've been working on my Japanese term paper since, uh, six or so (with probably an hour+ of breaks in there, though I forgot to take one for dinner). I've got eight pages. I need one more page of content and then the intro + conclusion should take the last page (it has to be ten). The topic is Japanese literature, very broad, though I wanted to relate it to current popular Japanese literature but cannot because I don't have any sources. I mean, I could just pull it out of my butt/Wikipedia buuut that's effort. So I'll just wrap it up somewhere in the seventies and if sensei has a problem with that she can tell the UH library to go order newer books. e_e

Going to finish writing it in the morning, anyway. And study for my vocab test. And go get my shots. Somehow.

Also I have finally given up completely on my original cardboard tutu plan. It's just not going to work the way I wanted it to. :/ I'm back to experimenting, though I think I've got a reasonably good idea what I'm doing at the moment. I'm also determined to use all that goddamn cardboard for something.

Today was such a day of highs and lows... Yeah, no JET interview, blah blah blah. That is nothing compared to what happened later... MY FUCKING CAMERA BROKE. My barely a month old shiny $800 camera that Dad got me for Christmas broke. I'm so pissed about that I have pretty much forgotten about JET completely (JET? What JET?). I'm sending it to Olympus to be fixed but it'll probably cost me a million dollars. Dammit.

The photo meme might be delayed as a result. I still have my old camera, but I am not really too inspired to take any photos at the moment. And of course the ones I already got are on my xD card rotting.

Let's get over that and talk about the good things that happened today! Mostly cosplay-related. :D

At Suutan's (calling her this to distinguish her from the Sarah formerly known as work Sarah) suggestion I went over to DSW to see if they had any clearance boots. Of course they did not. But I did find perfect shoes for Yin. :3 They were a bit expensive for clearance shoes, but that's okay because I can use them for regular shoes too (just not until after A-kon, because I do not want them getting scuffed XD). I ran to Target to grab some stockings, too, so here is ( my first Yin progress photo. )

For Chrome, D linked me to a Mukuro wig on Ebay that I have now ordered. Yaay, I don't have to do a zig-zag part or sew in wefts to make her retarded cowlick!

Though it's kind of sad that the cosplay I only decided I was going to do last week is the first one I'm getting a wig for...

I don't think I ever really even mentioned much about Chrome here... this is the Reborn cosplay I'm doing. She looks like this.


Other than that, Sarah came by and paid off the rest of the Tommy (and I made her listen to "Kufufu no fu" while she was over here; is that sad or what?), so he's now gone on to his new home. She hasn't thought of a name for him yet, but I'll find out when she does I'm sure. :D So I'm approximately $300 richer, which means that this weekend I'll be heading up to Texas Art Supply to look at dyes, ordering my feathers, and the ante will be upped on my boot quest. Mwahaha!

I need to make some friends who are at least willing to give Reborn a try. ALL I CAN DO IS FANGIRL AT PEOPLE WHO DON'T CARE! Come on, guys! I know I keep talking about how much it sucks but... ignore that! It's... it's... really... kin..d...of.....okka I CAN'T EVEN SAY IT IT'S HORRIBLE BUT I LOVE IT ANYWAY.
